Academy Awards Acceptance Speech Database

After watching the nominations for the 83rd Academy Awards I went over to the Oscars web-site to see if the full list of nominees had been posted. It took them a while to get the list up but I was glad to see that Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross were nominated for scoring The Social Network.

While I was waiting I found that they have a database of acceptance speeches. The database only goes back as far as 1971 but I knew I had to find this speech by Andrea Arnold:

This is truly overwhelming. I’m not really used to this kind of thing. I’d like to thank everyone who worked on the film. Everyone worked extremely hard. They know who they are, and the beers are on me when we get home. And what can I say? In English we’d say, I’d say that this is the dog’s bollocks. Thank you very much.

Yes, according to the database, the only time that an acceptor has said ‘bollocks’ during an acceptance speech.
