- J. T. LeRoy
Sarah is a ‘lot lizard’ who wants to become famous, becomes saintly, which fades, is found to be a boy, who escapes and manages to get back to place where the book started.
I can’t honestly say that I enjoyed it. It seemed to be the kind of book that a teenage girl would carry a dog-eared copy of proclaiming it to be the greatest fiction ever written. The strange thing is that I did finish it. Just for the simple reason that I wanted to find out what happened to the characters.
The only other book that I’ve read in a similar vein and style is Last Exit to Brooklyn by Hubert Selby Jr.
