Devil's Knot

  • The True Story of the West Memphis Three
  • Mara Leveritt

After watching the documentaries, Paradise Lost: The Child Murders At Robin Hood Hills and Revelations: Paradise Lost 2, I was astounded that such an injustice could be made in the world. With all the forensic technology available how could one person, let alone three young men, be found guilty of murder. The HBO films had such an effect on me that I haven’t watched either of them since. But I wanted to know more about the case.

Now that I’ve finished reading the book my views about the murders and the trial remain the same. Justice took a holiday.

There was no hard evidence to link the murders of Christopher, Michael and Stevie with Damien, Jason and Jessie. Nothing but a forced “confession” made by Jessie and the fact that Damien wore black clothing and had an interest in the Wiccan religion. No motive. No witnesses. And yet three young men are in prison, one of them on death-row.

Read more about the case at Free The West Memphis Three and make up your own mind. Help them if you can.
