The driver of a BMW was stopped by police today for driving with due care and attention. The police officer had been following the man for a mile, watching him using his indicator at junctions and round-a-bouts, driving within the speed limit and driving between the centre line in the road and the kerb. The driver of the vehicle was also not using a mobile phone nor was he changing the settings on his satellite navigation system. PC Williams finally pulled the man over when the driver was clearly seen driving a safe distance from the car in front.
The car was impounded and later underwent thorough forensic tests by police. A police statement later confirmed that the vehicle was completely road-worthy. After a positive urine test the driver has now been charged with taking ‘driving enhancing’ drugs.
Cheshire Police said that this has become a worrying trend among those who drive BMW cars, but thankfully the effects are easy to spot.
