When I bought my Nintendo 64 from Dixons (whatever happened to them) many moons ago I remember the assistant saying, “Aren’t you a little old for all this?”. Well, I’ve just bought my third Nintendo console.
I had fancied one of the Zelda styled Gameboy Advanced SP units around Christmas time as I had seen footage of The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap on a sampler DVD. The Nintendo DS had only just come out in the states back then and so was only available on import. It finally made it to our shores exactly a month ago and had been featured heavily in NGC magazine. The main game to get is Super Mario DS, but I had already played it all the way through on the N64, so it didn’t appeal. The main lure, apart from the Zelda game, is Polarium and Zoo Keeper. Both are puzzle games. I bought Yoshi Touch & Go as it uses the touch screen extensively, as do the puzzlers.
I’m still really getting used to it. It doesn’t seem to have the kind of addictiveness that Mario, Ocarina of Time & Lylat Wars had on the old console. Maybe it’s just my age, but I just had to get one.
